2,500 PSI to 3,000 PSILet’s be real: snow removal is a war against time and temperature. Most "off-the-shelf" cylinders look great in the shop, but they start bleeding oil the moment the temperature hits -20°C. Standard rubber seals turn as brittle as glass in the cold, and salt spray eats through cheap chrome plating in a single season. At HCIC, we don't build "general" cylinders for winter. We build snow plow hydraulic cylinders that handle the shock loads of hidden curbs and the corrosive hell of road salt without flinching.

Q: My plow cylinder is moving slowly. Is it the seal?
A: Not always. In extreme cold, oil viscosity thickens. However, if you see a "milky" color in the fluid, water has entered through a compromised seal. It’s time for a replacement before your pump burns out.
Q: How do I prevent my rods from pitting over the summer?
A: Always store your plow with the cylinders fully retracted. This keeps the polished rod submerged in oil and protected from the atmosphere.
Q: Are nitrided rods better than chrome for snow plows?
A: Yes. Nitriding integrates with the steel rather than just sitting on top. It’s much more resistant to the chipping caused by ice and gravel impacts.
