Product Description

I. What This Jack Is

The HCHJ-15K is a double-acting hydraulic trailer jack rated for the heavy end of the trailer world: 15 tons.

It replaces the crank handle on a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer. Push a button, the jack extends and lifts the trailer. The truck backs under. Push the button again, the jack retracts. Done.

Why hydraulic? Because of the load. A loaded gooseneck puts thousands of pounds on its landing gear. A crank jack turns that weight into handle torque — and a handle that fights back, at the end of a long day, is when people get hurt. The HCHJ-15K does the same job with a motor and a valve instead of arms and a gearbox.

III. Double-Acting — What It Means Here

Double acting means the jack has power in both directions. The pump extends it and the pump retracts it.

That matters on a heavy trailer for one practical reason: a loaded trailer sits on the jack. When you hook up and want to retract the jack, it is carrying the trailer's weight on its rod. A single-acting jack relies on gravity or the load to push the oil back — which works only if the load is gone. The HCHJ-15K pushes the rod back under power, no matter what is sitting on it.

For a 15-ton class jack, double acting is not a feature. It is the minimum correct design.

IV. The Numbers That Matter

15-ton load rating.---The catalog rating for this model. Match it against your trailer's loaded kingpin or coupler weight — not the empty weight, the loaded weight. If your pin weight runs near the rating, this is your jack.

2.36-inch bore with a 1.38-inch rod.--- The bore generates the lift force; the rod carries the load when the jack is extended and holding. The stepped-up section — larger than the 12-ton line — is what carries the heavier duty.

3000 PSI working pressure.---The hydraulic circuit runs at 3000 PSI working pressure. The catalog specifies the pump relief settings that protect it: 3200 PSI on the extend port, 1500 PSI on the retract port. Extending the jack — lifting the trailer — gets full pressure. Retracting is a lower-force job, and the lower relief keeps the system from over-forcing in that direction.

SAE 6 ports.---The hydraulic connection size. When you plan the hose runs, this is the port you match.

10" × 10" pivoting foot pad.---The pad swivels to settle flat on uneven ground. A fixed pad on a slope loads the jack sideways — and side load is what bends jack cylinders. The pivot keeps the load vertical.

Fast manual free operation.--- The circuit includes a free-fall mode: crack a valve and the jack lowers under its own weight. No pumping, no cranking. Fast hookups when the trailer is empty and light.

Exterior-grade black finish.---These jacks live under trailers — road salt, mud, gravel spray. The finish is specified for outdoor service.

V. How It Hooks Up

The HCHJ-15K is a bare jack — you connect it to a hydraulic source. Two paths:

Existing trailer hydraulics. If the trailer already runs a dump hoist or other hydraulic equipment, the jack taps into that system. The catalog specifies compatibility with hydraulic pumps/HPUs within 3200 PSI extension and 1500 PSI retraction limits.

A separate power unit.A 12V DC hydraulic power unit runs the jack independently. Pump, reservoir, and control — the power unit sits on the trailer frame or tongue, wired to the battery.

Control options include a handheld remote pendant, wired or wireless.

VI. Applications

  • Gooseneck livestock trailers. The classic case. Horses and cattle shift weight while loading; the jack has to lift and hold a moving load. The 15-ton rating covers the heavy end.
  • Fifth-wheel trailers. Heavy pin weights are the norm here. The larger bore handles the load class.
  • Heavy cargo and equipment trailers. Gooseneck car haulers and equipment trailers where pin weight runs high.
  • Dump and flatbed gooseneck trailers. Where the jack works alongside a dump hoist, both powered from the same system.

Applications

VII. Selection Notes

Choose on loaded pin weight, not empty weight.

The HCHJ-15K carries a 15-ton rating. If your trailer's loaded coupler weight is below that and stays below it loaded, this jack has the margin. If you are at the edge or above, talk to us — we will spec a custom solution or advise on a dual-jack arrangement.

Also confirm the mounting space on your trailer and the pin diameter before ordering. Send the trailer spec and we confirm fitment.

VIII. FAQ

Will this jack fit my trailer?
Check the mounting space and the loaded coupler weight against the rating. Send us your trailer spec and we confirm fitment.
What does double acting mean for me?
The jack retracts under power. When the trailer sits loaded on the jack, it still comes down smoothly — no relying on gravity.
Can it run off my dump hoist system?
Yes, within the limits — 3200 PSI extension, 1500 PSI retraction relief. The catalog lists compatibility with hydraulic pumps/HPUs to those settings.
Does it come with a pump?
No — the HCHJ‑15K is the jack. The power unit is available as an option, or it taps into existing trailer hydraulics.
How fast is manual free operation?
Crack the valve and the jack lowers under its own weight — no pumping. Fast hookups on empty trailers.
Lead time?
7‑10 working days for the standard model.
